О фильме: Николай Круглов оставляет службу в ФЭС и возвращается в родной город, где собирается спокойно встретить старость. Круглов скрывает от друзей, что отставка стала вынужденной мерой: в результате его ошибки неопытный оперативник оказался в коме. Идиллия, царящая на малой родине, оказывается обманчивой, а сам Круглов из заслуженного пенсионера быстро превращается в опасного беглеца и террориста, захватившего заложников. К расследованию приступают местные молодые полицейские: два брата-близнеца, оперативник Стас и следователь Андрей, а также криминалист Аглая. Благодаря помощи Майского и Рогозиной Круглов раскрывает бандитскую группировку и освобождает заложников. Круглова приглашают читать курс лекций в Университете МВД, где его слушателями становятся «новые легавые» - Стас Щербаков, Данила Бестужев и Аглая Титова. Впереди у них не только теория, но и практика по раскрытию преступлений, в которой без мудрых советов Круглова им не обойтись.
